A prisoner has been critically injured after an attack at Dublin's Mountjoy Jail.
The inmate was in his cell when he was attacked by other prisoners on Friday evening.
Gardaí are investigating the serious assault on a man in his 30s, who is currently receiving treatment for serious head injuries at the Mater Hospital.
The scene has been technically examined and an incident room has been established at Mountjoy Garda Station.
