The Romanian national was found dead on the Dock Road
A murder investigation's underway after a woman was found stabbed to death in Limerick.
The victim, who was in her 20s and from Romania, was discovered at an apartment at Riverdock House, Dock Road in the city on Tuesday.
Gardaí upgraded this investigation to murder following a post-mortem examination.
Officers said the results of the autopsy were not being disclosed “for operational reasons.”
Garda technical teams continue to examine the scene and searches of the Dock Road and O’Curry Street have been carried out as the hunt for the murder weapon continues.
CCTV footage is also being examined
Anyone who may have information that can assist with the investigation is being asked to contact Gardai.
A reliable source familiar with the investigation said gardai were examining the possibility that the victim may have been targeted because she had worked in the sex industry.
