Two teenagers have been arrested after driving a stolen car the wrong way on the M50 and in areas of Dublin, before ramming a Garda vehicle.
Yesterday (17 September) before 8:00pm, Gardaí were involved in a containment operation following a number of "dangerous driving episodes" by the males using the stolen car.
It followed the unauthorised taking of a car in the Coolock area, Dublin 17 in the early hours of Wednesday 16 September.
During the course of the operation, at the junction of the M1 and the R132, the stolen car rammed an official Garda vehicle, the stolen vehicle was brought to a controlled stop.
No injuries were reported at the time.
Two male juveniles (aged in their late teens) were arrested at the scene and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the DMR North area.
One of the males has since been charged, and was scheduled to appear before the Dublin Children’s Court this morning, Friday 18 September.
The other arrested male was released pending a file to the Youth Diversion Programme.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
