Minister of State Jack Chambers represented the Taoiseach and the Irish government.
The North's First and Deputy First Ministers have attended a wreath-laying ceremony in Dublin, in memory of those who died at the Battle of the Somme 105 years ago.
Paul Given and Michelle O'Neill traveled to the National War Memorial in Islandbridge for the event marking one of the bloodiest battles of the World War I.
It is the first time Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill took part in a ceremony organised by the Royal British Legion.
The Taoiseach was represented by the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State Jack Chambers.
He says it was positive to see both sides of the North's political divide attend this event:
