RTÉ is set to ask for an increase in the license-fee top up, requesting an additional €13 million (37 per cent) due to a fall in the number of people with a TV.
Representatives from the national broadcaster are to have a hearing with TDs this week, along with a written submission.
The national broadcaster says it is over a lack of revenue streams from the licence, as it claims over one in five households do not own a TV.
