Electic Ireland to increase gas & electricity prices in August.
A Sinn Fein TD says he's 'very concerned' by energy price hikes for Electric Ireland customers.
The company's increasing its electricity prices by 9 per cent and gas bills by 7.8 per cent from August.
It comes after other utility providers announced cost rises.
Deputy Darren O'Rourke says it's bad timing, with many households working from home or unemployed due to the pandemic:
Electric Ireland, which has more than one million electricity customers, is to increase electricity prices by 9% from August, in a move that will add €100 to the average annual bill. Gas going up by 7.8%, adding €60 to the average bill.
