The state has been advised to borrow money to fund social housing.
The State has been recommended to borrow 7 billion euro a year to fund construction of social housing.
That's according to the ESRI report on housing, published by the the economic think-tank in June.
A member of the Oireachtas Committee on Housing has criticised the Department of Finance's response to an ESRI report.
Documents released to Sinn Fein under Freedom of Information, show a Department of Finance memo the ESRI report, saying, "it's only a decade since we discovered the world does not owe us a living".
