Local GAA: Relegation Looms For Kildare Men While The Women Secure Promotion

It was a mixed weekend for Kildare GAA, LGFA and Camogie sides

 

GAA

The Kildare men footballers are without a win after 5 League games, and relegation to Division 3 is looming.

Yesterday, they finally scored goals – three of them;  were on top for much of the first half, but were outscored by Cork in the 2nd half, to lose by 2-15 to 3-9

Kildare finished strongly with the last 4 points to reduce the final margin to 3 points.

Kildare have just two games remaining vs Donegal on Saturday March 16th at 5pm in Carlow and at home to Louth in Carlow on the following Saturday March 23rd at 7pm

LADIES FOOTBALL

 The Kildare women footballers sit top of Division 2 in their league, have qualified for the Division 2 final and are promoted to Division 1 next season.

They are unbeaten in 19 consecutive matches.

They have also secured back to back promotions, as they are promoted to Division 1 next season, with two games left

Yesterday, they beat Laois by 3-11 to 0-7 points in Manguard Park, Hawkfield.

The Kildare Minor Ladies played Laois in the first round of the Leinster Championship at the weekend.

The full time score was Kildare 9-11 Laois 2-6

CAMOGIE

Kildare continued their Very National League, Division 3A, away to Roscommon on Saturday. 

The game ended in a narrow defeat for Kildare on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-7.

The Kildare Minor Camogie team played Carlow in Fenagh, Co. Carlow yesterday in the first round of the All Ireland Minor B Championship.

It finished level: Carlow 1-12 Kildare 0-15
