SFC Semi finalists Decided; IFC & JFC Results; Reece James Signs New 6 Year Deal at Chelsea, Diego Costa Signing for Wolves; Nadal in action at US Tennis Open

 

The semi final line-up for this year’s Joe Mallon Motors SFC has been completed following the weekend’s games.

On Friday night, Athy beat Clogherinkoe 3-18 to 1-12 in Round Towers GAA.

On Saturday, Celbridge booked their place in the last four with a 1-9 to 0-8 win over Johnstownbridge.

Yesterday Clane beat Eadestown 3-16 to 1-9.

Reigning champions Naas produced a superb comeback in the second half to beat Sarsfields in the last quarter final tie.

Trailing by 6 points at the break, Naas, down to 13 for parts of the 2nd half, following the red carding of Darragh Kirwan in the 38th minute and a black card for Alex Beirne in the 44th minute, with a superb game-high 7 points from Eamonn Callaghan emerged winners by 1-14 to 1-11

The semi final pairings are Clane vs Athy and Naas vs Celbridge to take place in a fortnight.

In the Auld Shebeen Bar IFC, Castledermot beat Monasterevan 1-8 to 0-9 and in the Tom Cross Transport JFC Robertstown 1-12 Ballykelly 1-6, Kill 1-16 Athgarvan 0-8, Grangenolvin 1-14 Cappagh 0-5.

Chelsea wing-back Reece James has signed a new six-year contract with the Premier League club.

The deal will reportedly see his wages increase to 290-thousand euro a week and will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2028.

James joined the club 16-years ago and the 22-year-old has already racked up 128 appearances for the Blues.

 

Diego Costa will have a medical at Wolves tomorrow.

The former Chelsea striker is able to sign outside the transfer window, as he's a free agent having left Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro
