Monday Morning Sport: Mixed Fortunes For Kildare Teams In Leinster

This morning's Kildare Today will review all the action

A busy weekend of mixed Leinster fortunes for Kildare teams.

Saturday saw four Kildare clubs in Leinster action, with two wins and two defeats the outcome, while on Sunday Eadestown ladies lost the Leinster
senior final.

On Saturday evening Naas senior footballers were beaten 2-15 to 1-15 by Dublin champions Cuala.

In the Leinster Intermediate Club football quaarter final, Caragh beat Dicksboro 5-10 to 0-7.

In the Leinster Junior championship: Ellistown beat Grattan Óg of Longford by 0-12 to 0-11.

The Ellistown game was preceded by the Leinster Junior hurling club championship: Moorefield losing heavily to Castletown Liam Mellows
by 6-19 to 0-5.

Eadestown Ladies Football seniors recently completed a five in a row Kildare senior titles.

However, yesterday they lost the Leinster Final to reigning champions Kilmacud Crokes in O'Connor Park, Tullamore by 4-14 to 0-3 points.

Kilcock meanwhile won the Leinster Ladies Junior Final, beating Baile Dubh Tire of Wexford 0-15 to 1-9.

SOCCER

Drogheda United beat Derry City 2-0 in the FAI Cup final.

That win is their first cup win since 2005 and sends them into Europe next
season.

Next up for Drogheda is a Promotion/Relegation playoff against Bray Wanderers next weekend.

Chelsea and Arsenal played a 1-all draw at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are third in the table going into the international break.

Ruud van Nistelrooy signed off unbeaten as interim Manchester United manager, after guiding United to a 3-0 win at home to Leicester.

Ipswich beat Tottenham 2-1.

Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest 3-1.

In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic have returned to the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.

RUGBY

Scotland lost 32-15 to world champions South Africa in the Autumn Nations series.

Wales were also beaten by Fiji 24-19 in Cardiff.

It's a tenth consecutive defeat for Warren Gatland's side.

In the resumed AIL on Saturday, Div 1B Naas lost 22-24 away to DCU

MU Barnhall lost at home 14-31 to Division 2A leaders Galway Corinthians
