Athy reach Joe Mallon Motors SFC Semi Finals.

GAELIC GAMES

Athy are the first team to reach the 2022 Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship semi finals.

They beat Clogherinkoe by 3-18 to 1-12 in Round Towers last night.

St Conleth’s Park is the venue for today’s quarter final.

Johnstownbridge and Celbridge meet at 4.00pm.

That will be preceded by the  Auld Shebeen Bar Athy, Intermediate Quarter Final between Monasterevan and Castledermot at 2.00pm.

Kill and Athgarvan  and Grangenolvin and Cappagh contest Tom Cross Transport Junior Football Quarter Finals at Manguard Plus Hawkfield at 12.00 and 2.00.

Robertstown beat Ballykelly vy 1-12 to 1-06 last night.

Kfm will have live updates from the games today, in association with Pat Keogh Skoda, Ballybrittas.

We’ll also have full commentary of tomorrow’s Joe Mallon Motors senior quarter final between holders Naas and Sarsfields at 4pm, with Ger McNally and Philie Wolfe.

Former Armagh star Oisin McConville is set to be the next Wicklow Senior Football Manager.

The Garden County’s Management Committee have recommended the 46 year old for the post.

It will be his first inter-county management, but Wicklow says his experience as a player, coach and manager will bring energy and enthusiasm to the role

His backroom team will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Ciara Mageean smashed Sonia O’Sullivan’s 27-year old national record in the 15-hundred metres last night.

The European silver medallist took more than 2-seconds off O’Sullivan’s time in winning at the Diamond League meet in Brussels.

Mageean also beat European gold medallist Laura Muir into second.

SOCCER

The Merseyside derby is the first of today’s  Premier League fixtures.

The Reds make the short trip across Stanley Park to play Everton at Goodison.

There are six 3 o'clock kick-offs, including Tottenham at home to Fulham, Chelsea against West Ham, and Newcastle versus Crystal Palace.

Defending champions Manchester City play Aston Villa in the late game.

TENNIS

23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has been knocked out of the US Open tennis - in what's likely to be her last major tournament after hinting at retirement.
