Organisers say 52 civilian boats carrying 461 volunteers from 45 countries have been intercepted so far.
President Catherine Connolly's sister is among those who have been detained.
Dr Margaret Connolly was sailing on the Blue Toys ship in the Global Sumud Flotilla when it was intercepted by Israeli forces off the coast of Cyprus.
Meanwhile, Sallins man Colm Byrne, who is onboard the flotilla but Kfm news understands has not been detained, sent a voicenote to Kfm:
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised his country's Navy for doing what he calls an outstanding job.
He also claims they were neutralising a malicious plan designed to break the isolation Israel is imposing on Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs says it is "actively monitoring the situation" regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla.
It added that it's engaging with the relevant authorities and will provide consular assistance to the impacted Irish citizens.
