Nationally, over 10,000 electric vehicles were registered
Between January & March this year, 2,350 electric vehicles were purchased by Co. Kildare residents.
That's according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, which revealed nationally, over 10,000 electric vehicles were registered.
Nationwide, new car registrations for the month of March increased by 40.7%.
The importing of used cars in March, again nationally, decreased by 35.1% - compared to March of 2021.
The Director General of SIMI, Brian Cooke, did note while there was an increase in vehicle purchases in March 2022, compared to March of last year, "they still remain 22% behind that of pre-COVID (2019) levels".
Electric Vehicle, Plug-in Hybrids & Hybrids continue to increase their market share - with a combined market share of 44.63%.
In total comparing the first quarters of 2021 to 2022, new car sales increased by 4% this year.
