Meanwhile, the rental sector is continuing to stabilise following rental reforms earlier this year.
The average rent for new tenancies across the country has increased by 9.1 per cent year on year.
That figure now stands at €1,839 euro per month.
The RTB’s quarterly report also adds that average rent for existing tenancies now stands at €1,513 euro per month, an increase of 4.2 per cent.
Rises were particularly high in the cities of Cork, Limerick and Galway with new rents rising above €2,000 euro in Galway city for the first time.
Dublin is the highest, at an average of €2,335 a month.

The RTB received over 4,000 notices of termination in Q2 of the year, down almost 43 per cent from the previous quarter when the rules were introduced.
Just over half of these were issued as the landlord planned to sell the property.
