Cabinet Signs Off On E-Scooter Ban For Under 18s

Gardaí will be using drones to crack down on improper e-scooter use as part of new regulations to take effect next month.

Cabinet has signed off on a ban on e-scooters for under 18s and measures to make helmets and high visibility gear mandatory.

Regulations later in the year will require the registration of all e-scooters and a system of licencing yet to be worked out.

Minister for Road Safety Sean Canney has doubled the fines for e-scooter offences to €100.
