The number of people on the Live Register or receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment fell by 16 per cent last month, to just over 400,000.
CSO figures show in the last week in June just under 230,000 people were in receipt of PUP payments, down more than 80,000 on the same time last year.
Almost a quarter of those receiving the payment were in each of the 25 to 34 and 35 to 44 age groups.
