Diesel Leak Into River Liffey Being Contained

Irish Rail has confirmed the underground pipe connection was fixed when the leak was discovered in March 2025

A leakage of diesel is being contained on the River Liffey, close to the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Irish Rail's confirmed the underground pipe connection was fixed when the leak was discovered in March 2025.

The contamination has been contained, and attempts are being made to clean up the remainder of the spillage.

Barry Kenny from Iarnród Eireann has said it's working with other bodies to ensure it doesn't leak further.
