Over 60,000 are siting Leaving Certificate examinations from today
Leaving Certificate examinations are set to begin today.
First up is English paper 1 this morning, with Home Economics, Scientific and Social later in the afternoon.
The Junior Cycle also begins with students sitting English this morning and Religious Education in the afternoon.
Speaking on Kildare Today, CEO of Turn2Me Moira Horgan urged students to go back to basics in terms of nutrition, hydration, sleep and planning your morning so as to have time to focus on exams:
"All you can do is try your best, not catastrophising in your head and just taking it day by day."
Slow breaths and grounding your feet on the floor during exam time is a key technique outlined by Ms Horgan to deal with stress of examinations.
She also advised students to use different techniques such as naming things in your bedroom, understanding sensations in your body and cold therapy.
Ms Horgan also had a word for stressed out parents of children doing exams, and that it's important to be supportive irrespective of how a day of examinations has gone for their child.
"For all the parents all those techniques are the same, it's just to be there and be supportive."
