Government leaders have begun discussing Budget 2026 and are planning to focus on cutting the VAT rate on electricity bills and the hospitality industry instead, according to The Sunday Times.

Tackling the housing crisis is also set to feature prominently.

CEO of the Restaurants' Association of Ireland, Adrian Cummins explains why they want VAT reduced from 13 point 5 per cent to 9 per cent:
