Income From Hospital Car Parking Risen To Over €10m In Past Five Years

Figures for Naas General Hospital have also been revealed, however they are lower on the scale compared to other hospitals nationwide

Car parking income from hospitals has risen by over €10 million in the last five years.

In 2021, the earnings stood at €7.39 million - that figure has gone up to €17.76 million.

The data was provided to Sinn Féin by the HSE, with the party labelling the increase as a "charge on being sick".

Revenue increased in every year after 2021:

2022: €10.61 million, an increase of €3.22 million or 43.6 per cent compared with 2021.

2023: €13.46 million, an increase of €2.85 million or 26.9 per cent compared with 2022.

2024: €16.18 million, an increase of €2.72 million or 20.2 per cent compared with 2023.

2025: €17.76 million, an increase of €1.58 million or 9.7 per cent compared with 2024.

The six largest increases were recorded at Cork University Hospital, University Hospital Limerick, Tallaght University Hospital, St James’s Hospital, Waterford Regional Hospital and Beaumont Hospital.

Together, these six hospitals accounted for approximately €5.59 million, or more than half of the overall €10.37 million increase recorded between 2021 and 2025.

Naas General Hospital's increase over the past five years has not been as notable as the top 6 hospitals.

2021: €44,355

2022: €43,221

2023: €38,697

2024: €32,124

2025: €48,867

Overall, Naas General Hospital generated a total earning of €256,056 from hospital car parking fees.
