In recent years, January has been referred to as 'divorce month' in legal circles, due to the increase in demand from couples who wish to end their marriage.
Despite this, Ireland has the second-lowest divorce rate in the EU, with 0.6 divorces per 1,000 people compared to a European average of 1.6 per 1,000.
Owner of Divorce Coaching Ireland, Mel Murphy, says there are many reasons why January sees a spike in inquiries.
