A man has been charged in connection with death of a woman in Laois over the weekend.
She was aged in her 50s and was found dead at a house in Portlaoise on Sunday.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to an incident at a home on Church Street shortly after 12:30 on Sunday afternoon.
A woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene and a man in his 70s was arrested.
A technical exam was carried out on the scene and the Stet Pathologist was notified.
The arrested man has since been charged and is due to appear before Portlaoise District Court this morning.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
