A man has died following an explosion in Cnoc Fola, Gaoth Dobhair, in Co Donegal.
Gardaí are at the scene in Cnoc Fola on the outskirts of An Bun Beag (Bunbeg). The National Ambulance Service and Donegal Fire Brigade also attended the scene.
The area was evacuated and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal was requested.
The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it has begun an investigation into the incident.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
A minute's silence was held at the monthly meeting of Donegal County Council at the request of Cathaoirleach Liam Blaney to express "sympathies to the family and friends of the man who was killed in a work accident in west Donegal".
