A man has died following an incident on Henry Street in Dublin city centre.
A Garda Investigation is under way after a man died following an alleged shoplifting incident on Henry Street in Dublin on Friday evening.
Gardaí said security staff detained the man at around 5pm after an incident at a nearby shop.
During the incident, a man in his 80s was injured while the suspect was attempting to flee.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The detained man later became unresponsive at the scene and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was on Henry Street between 5pm and 5.30pm, particularly those with video footage, to contact Store Street Garda Station.
