The officers were struck in the hand and foot following a standoff
A man will appear in court today after two gardai were injured in a shooting in West Dublin.
They were shot in an armed siege in Blanchardstown on Tuesday.
Cliona O'Dwyer reports:
"The shooting happened when shots were fired at gardai in the Whitechapel Grove estate in Blanchardstown on Tuesday night.
The two officers were struck in the hand and foot following a standoff and a media blackout which lasted for several hours.
Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
A number of houses in the area were evacuated as gardai took cover behind a patrol car as shots were exchanged between a man and armed detectives.
Following extensive negotiations, two guns were thrown from a house.
A man in his 30s was arrested and was being questioned at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
He's due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court at half ten this morning. "
