This comes as National food waste recycling week approaches.
National food waste recycling week, which is taking place from May 30th to June 7th, is reminding people to use the correct bags in their brown bin.
The brown bin is for all food and organic waste, which is composted or converted into renewable energy. It accepts cooked and raw food scraps, light garden waste, and food-soiled paper.
Biodegradable bags still contain plastic and are not suitable for the brown bin.
Pauline McDonogh, Circular Economy co-ordinator at MyWaste, says that its a common mistake people make.
