The RTB received more than 7,000 notices of termination
There was a record number of eviction notices issued in the first three months of this year, ahead of new rental rules which came into effect in March.
The Residential Tenancies Board received 7,062 notices of termination - up 50% on the same period last year, which was 4,693.
It’s the highest quarterly figure since records began in 2023.
The RTB says 60% of notices were issued because landlords planned to sell their properties.
While eviction notices peaked in February, the number fell again in March.
