The cigarettes were branded ‘Rothmans.'
Over €1.5 million worth of cigarettes have been seized from a commercial premises in County Meath.
As part of routine operations and with the assistance of a detector dog, Revenue officers seized over 1.5 million ‘Rothmans’ branded cigarettes.
The illicit cigarettes originated in Belgium and had a retail value of more than €1.1 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €919,000.
Investigations are ongoing.
Separately, Revenue officers in Dublin have been granted a three month cash detention order after a cash seizure on Thursday.
Officials seized €13, 700 euro after stopping and searching a passenger destined for Switzerland at Dublin Airport.
The cash was suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and officials were granted the order at the Dublin District Court on Friday.
