Mental Health Ireland is calling on the government to give an additional 85 million euro to fund mental health services in the Budget.
The World Health Organisation recommends that 12 percent of a health budget should be given to mental health, but Mental Health Ireland says only 7 percent is spent here.
There are also calls for spending on Counselling in Primary care to be doubled, allowing a further 10-thousand people access the service.

A Fine Gael MEP says not enough is being done to help prevent serious mental health issues in young people around the EU.
Maria Walsh was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg where mental health issues were discussed this weekend by young people from all over the EU including Ireland as part of World Mental Health Day.
