Two people have lost their lives in separate road traffic collisions in Counties Meath and Tipperary overnight.

The first incident happened shortly before 2am on the Kentstown Road outside Navan, where the rider of an e-scooter died following a collision with a car.

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, and a passenger in his 20s were not injured.

A second fatal crash occurred at around 3.45am on the L4101 at Lanespark near Ballynonty, County Tipperary.
