Colum is one of the youngest members.
Ballymore Eustace man Colum Boyle represents Ireland as a member of the Senior Men’s Irish Freestyle Kayaking Team in the 2026 European Freestyle Kayaking Championships in Finland.
Colum is one of the youngest members to make it on to the Senior Men's team at the age of twenty.
Colum started kayaking in 2016 at a summer camp taught by Séan Murphy and Maria Harney from Ballymore Eustace, and then continued on to join the local club where he learned the basics of paddling.
After Covid, Colum was introduced to freestyle kayaking through Chris O’Loan and Balto Kayak Club where he became proficient.
He was reserve for the Irish Junior Team in 2022 for the Kayaking Freestyle World Championships in Nottingham, UK and in 2023 for the Kayaking Freestyle World Championship in Columbus, Georgia, U.S.A.
The former Naas CBS man and his team get underway today, with further competitions in France later in the month.
