Ireland's chance of a second successive Grand Slam was ended with defeat to England last night.

RUGBY

Ireland's hopes of winning a second successive Six Nations Grand Slam are over after last night's narrow loss to England.

It finished 23 points to 22 at Twickenham, with Marcus Smith kicking a last-gasp drop goal to win the game for the hosts.

Ireland will still claim the championship title if they beat Scotland next weekend.

There's one match in the competition today, with Wales at home to France from 3pm.

The Kildare senior hurlers registered the first win of their Division 2A campaign against Kerry yesterday.
 
Having led by a single point at the break, goalkeeper Paddy McKenna's converted penalty kick started the second half scoring for Kildare who went on to win by 1-21 to 1-14.

The hurlers are back in action on Friday evening against Carlow in Manguard Park.

There are three games in Division 1A this afternoon.

Kilkenny and Clare are both unbeaten so far and face each other at Cusack Park in Ennis from 1:30pm.

There's a 1.15pm start in Tullamore, where Offaly play Cork.

From 3:30pm at Walsh Park, Waterford play Wexford.

In Division 1B, Galway play Dublin at Pearse Stadium.

Camogie

The Kildare senior camogie team suffered a third consecutive defeat in their Division 3A league campaign.

The Lilies lost out to Armagh yesterday on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-3.

Football

The Aldridge Cup senior football semi finals took place yesterday.

Celbridge booked their place in the final with a 1-13 to 2-4 win over Sarsfields.

While Raheens secured their place with a 1-14 to 0-11 victory over Allenwood.

The final will take place on Monday 18th March at Manguard Park.

Caragh are through to the Keogh Cup final, after beating Two Mile House by 1-17 to 0-8.

Their final opponents will be decided on Tuesday when Ballyteague host Sallins.

SOCCER

It's a huge day in the Premier League title race, with one point separating leaders Liverpool and second-placed Manchester City ahead of their meeting at Anfield.

Kick-off there is at 3.45pm.

Before that there's a big game in the race for Champions League football, when Aston Villa host Spurs from 1pm.

At 2pm, Brighton play Nottingham Forest and West Ham take on Burnley.

The action at Naas this afternoon is underway shortly after 1:05pm.
