Sunday Sports Update: 4 Hurling Games In St Conleth's Park This Afternoon.

Racing also takes place at the Curragh.



Hurling takes centre stage on the local GAA scene this afternoon with four games being played in St Conleth’s Park.

At 12, Eire Og Corra Choill play Wolfe Tones in the UPMC Junior Final and that’s followed by the Intermediate Final between Broadford and Maynooth at 1.45.

There are then two Senior Hurling semi-finals with the first being played at 4 between Celbridge and Maynooth, while Clane face reigning champions Naas at 5.30pm.

Kfm will have live updates across the afternoon from all games.

Yesterday in the football championships, Ballyteague advanced to the semi final of the Auld Shebeen Bar Athy Intermediate Championship with a win over Leixlip, while Milltown were relegated to Junior, following a defeat from St Kevins.

Confey retained their Senior status for next season with victory over Round Towers, who will now drop down to Intermediate.



Shamrock Rovers have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the SSE Airticity League Premier Division table to four points this evening.

The defending champions take on bottom side Finn Harps with kick off at Tallaght Stadium at 7pm.

Sean Hoare is set to miss the game through injury after coming off early in the 0-0 draw with Djurgarden during the week.



Rory McIlroy has given himself a great chance of another victory on the European Tour this evening.

The Northern Irishman is just a shot off the lead ahead of the final round of the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth.

The former world number one shot a second round 65 to leave him on 11 under par for the week.

He's just behind Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen and Viktor Hovland of Norway on 12 under par.

Shane Lowry is in a tie for 6th place on 10 under par after a 68 on Saturday while Graeme McDowell just made the final round on 4 under par.

Jonathan Caldwell missed the cut last night on 1 under par.

The event will end after 54 holes this evening after a curtailed first round owing to Queen Elizabeth's death on Thursday.


The Irish St Leger is the big race on day two of the Irish Champions Weekend meeting at The Curragh

Joseph O'Brien and Ger Lyons will do battle as they're represented by Raise You and Kyprios respectively in this afternoon's Classic.

That one goes to post at ten past 4.

It's one of four Group One races on the day, the first of the eight race card gets underway at a quarter past one.


Charles Leclerc will be hoping for a home Ferrari win in the Italian Grand Prix this afternoon.

The Monégasque driver heads the grid at Monza with Mercedes man George Russell starting from second and Lando Norris of McClaren in third.

Defending champion Max Verstappen will go from 4th after he was one of nine drivers hit with grid penalties over the weekend.

Lights out in Italy is at 2pm.


We're guaranteed a new Grand Slam champion at Flushing Meadows this evening.

Norway's Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz of Spain battle it out to see who will take the men's US Open title for 2022.

The winner of tonight's decider will also take the world number one ranking with the victory.

The action kicks off on the Arthur Ashe Court at 9pm.
