Thursday Lunch: Three Former Rugby Players Have Taken Legal Proceedings Against Their Provinces, IRFU And World Rugby

Local action continues tonight, in the other Minor A Semi- Final.

RUGBY

Three former rugby players, including ex Irish internationals David Corkery and Declan Fitzpatrick and former Leinster and Connacht player Ben Marshall have taken legal proceedings against their former provinces, the IRFU and World Rugby in what are believed to be concussion related cases.

The trio, represented by law firm Maguire McClafferty, issued proceedings in the High Court in Dublin yesterday.

Ex-Munster player Corkery won 27 caps for Ireland, while former Ulster player Fitzpatrick made 7 appearances for the national team.

Marshall lined out at provincial level for 7 years between 2010 and 2017.

Leinster number 8 Max Deegan will captain the Emerging Ireland team in tomorrow’s clash with the Griquas in South Africa.

David McCann and Scott Penny complete the back row behing locks Joe McCarthy and Thomas Ahern.

Josh Wycherly, Tom Stewart and Thomas Clarkson combine at the front of the scrum.

Scrum-half Nathan Doak and out-half Jack Crowley will steer the side at half-back.

Full back Shane Daly will be flanked by Calvin Nash and Robert Baloucoune while Stewart Moore and Eadestown's Jamie Osborne are in the centre.

Celbridge play Raheens in Manguard plus Hawkfield.

Throw in is at 7.30pm on pitch 1.

The winner of tonight’s game will play Naas in the final.

All-Ireland winning Donegal defender Neil McGee has announced his retirement from inter-county football at the age of 36.

McGee - who was part of the 2012 All-Ireland winning team - also won five Ulster titles, a National League and picked up three All-Stars.
