Man (70s) Dead Following Road Incident In Offaly

There were no other persons in the vehicle.

A man in his 70s has died after the van he was driving entered the water at Banagher Marina in Co Offaly.

On Sunday evening, a van entered the water at approximately 5.30pm.
 
Emergency services arrived to scene shortly after and treated the driver of the van, a man in his 70s, at the scene. The man was taken to Ballinasloe Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
 
There were no other persons in the vehicle.

The scene is currently preserved, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
