Protest Over National Maternity Hospital Ownership Takes Place Today.

Large turnout expected outside the Dail

A demonstration calling for the full state ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital is due to take place outside the Dail today.

The Kildare Street protest is being organised by the Campaign Against Church Ownership of Women's Healthcare.

The Government is trying to purchase the site for the new facility from the St Vincent's Hospital Group.

People Before Profit TD Brid Smith feels there can not be any religious ethos in the new National Maternity Hospital.

Smith thinks there will be a large turnout.

Hundreds gathered outside Leinster House in Dublin earlier to protest over the ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital.

There has also been suggestions of moving the hospital to a new site, something campaigner Anne Conway says should happen after years of delays:
